All of our meat is freshly delivered three times a week by H G Strattons of Leighton Buzzard. H G Stratton is a third generation family butchers with 65 years experience who source and retails superior grade produce from a range of trusted suppliers.
Our fresh fish is supplied by Westons in Boxmoor who’s reputation is renowned locally and as far a field as the table of Arsenal Football Club.
Jonathan, Richard & Matthew our chefs, uncompromising commitment to flavour and quality use these fine fresh ingredients to then ensure your meal looks and tastes superb.

The hand selected wine list from R& N Chateaux Wines covers a wide choice of old and new world wines to tempt every palette

Our well kept real ales are regularly rotated but can often include London Pride, Adnams and Abbot Ale. They are all nurtured with tender loving care to deliver a visually bright, aromatic beer that tastes clean and fresh.

Martins Pond is situated at Potten End a village close enough to both Berkhamsted and the western extremity of Hemel Hempstead for convenience, yet far enough distant to preserve its own special character and way of life. A 10-metre wide section of Grims Dyke, the ancient boundary bank-and-ditch earthwork of Iron Age or Saxon origin, is clearly visible nearby as are other historical attractions

The current building dates back to 1924 but the site of the public house has been a source of hospitality for both locals and visitors since the 17th Century. Its first reference to being a beer house was in 1850 when it was known as ' The Plumbers Arms' . By 1896 it was owned by Frederick Quincey Lane who owned Lane Nurseries close by and was a watering hole for the workforce. It changed ownership several times from then and was also once known as 'The Red Lion' before becoming Martins Pond appropriately named after the village green on which it nestles. If you have any pictures or know any other interesting history please do not hesitate to contact us.
